About Readability Scores

A readability score is the grade level of formal education you need to have completed to be able to easily read the text. It is calculated by measuring a combination of sentence length and word length or syllables within a given passage. Readability scores were measured for program materials intended for general public consumption. This program material was measured for readability and the SMOG, Fog and Fry methods were used to determine the overall program material readability score.

Please refer to the Readability section on the Frequently Asked Question page for a more detailed description of readability score formulas.
